post election peace!!!

Ok so a had to take a blogging break because of traveling for work last week.  I must say as much as I wanted and prayed for McCain to be in the White House I have this huge peace that Barack Obama was who needed to win.  I dont agree with everything he wants to do and the way in which he wants to do it, but I do believe that this country has to go through change, it has to go through different types of people leading our country, and if we dont we become stagnant and that is NEVER EVER good!  I believe that we have not seem the worst of what is to come but I do believe we are close and from there it can only go up.  From everyone that I talk to in the financial and political world things will get better its just a matter of time and patience.

THIS IS FROM A FRIENDS POST ON FACEBOOK!  LOVE IT!!  Check out his new non-profit: Reagan.org  this is the conservative answer to moveon.

I went out to dinner.

Once in the restaurant my server had on a "*/Obama 08/*" tie_,
again I laughed as he had given away his political preference--just imagine the coincidence.

When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him
that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He
stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.

I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the
server inside as I've decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I
realized the homeless guy was _grateful for the money he did not earn,
but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn_
even though the actual recipient deserved money more.

I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in
concept than in practical application.

so close

So we are two days away!! So close!

As the last two days of the election are upon us I am having a hard time reading the polls and figuring out what is going on.  Some have the race even some have McCain ahead and some have Obama ahead by like 11.  Once again a way our media has a hold of us we have no clue what was going on.  All I know is I am waking up Tuesday morning and going with some lawn chairs and snacks and camping out at the polling place in my neighborhood.

I cannot wait for the race to be over, I am going ahead and making my prediction.  Its gonna be close and when I go to bed Tuesday night we will think one candidate has it, then when we wake up that candidate will have lost.  I hope and pray it is McCain.  I honestly believe he is the better of two evils in this race.  I believe he can pull it off.

Is it Nov. 4th yet?

So while I think the election process in this country is fascinating all the crap that we must listen to and watch while getting to election day is really taking a toll on me.  I am sick of the mudslinging the name calling the media bias, all of it.  I still do not know where either of the candidates really stand, I can read their websites but its hard to take that as the truth.  The closest thing we have found is the heritage foundation but even that I fear is skewed.  I know where they stand on the big issues but how will they put these plans into action in a real situation what effect will it have on me?  I feel like a cant get a truthful answer from either of them on this question.

The news

I would like to think this video is taking the reality of news in America to an extreme however I am afraid that it is highly accurate!

Airplanes

So our country is going through a tough time, nothing that we haven't been through before.  In all actuality my stock is up from where it was 3,6,12 months ago.  I believe we will come out of this, do I know if the bailout is a good idea or not, and I will not even begin to guess because the people making that decision have a much better look at the big picture than I ever could.  However, I am not here today to write about the bail out I am here to bring to light something that I thought was very interesting.

http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/24/mccain-suspends-campaign-to-help-with-bailout/

This is a link to a FoxNews article about the McCain camp suspending their campaign to be in Washington, and his plea to Obama to put off the debate.  I do respect McCain for this in so many ways, it shows he is able to prioritize what is most important for our country at the appropriate time.  What caught my attention was this section of the article...

"The Republican presidential candidate furthermore asked the Presidential Debate Commission to postpone his first debate with Obama, which is scheduled to take place Friday night at the University of Mississippi in Oxford.

Obama responded by saying that such disruptive measures were unnecessary.

“Presidents are going to have to deal with more than one thing at a time,” Sen. Obama said. “It’s not necessary for us to think that we can only do one thing and suspend everything else.” He said that he and McCain have large campaign planes that can get them from Washington to Mississippi and back quickly."

The part that I put in bold is what caught my attention and I found somewhat humorous!  Our country in is the middle of a financial crisis, things need to be worked out and we will be fine, but in a case where a good bit of the people do not have to pennies to rub together Obama wants to assure the American people that he and McCain have airplanes to get them back to Washington.  I'm sorry but thats not really relating to the American people, I dont have an airplane do you?  Yes I know the same argument could be related to McCain and his houses and cars but still I think you get my point and I really thought it was more funny than anything else.

I also want to touch on the comment that Obama made about the President having to juggle different things at one time.  Yes, a President must be able to do that BUT more importantly a President must be able to recognize what is a priority for our country.  That fact that McCain is willing to suspend his campaign to do his job as a Senator in Washington should gain him respect not flack.

My Theory

So I have been travelling like crazy the last week and a half and in that time I have been watching a lot of news and TV.  The negativity that is broadcast is enough to drive a sane person crazy!!!!  It really it amazing to see all the negativity that is out there.  Yes, I know the economy is going through a tough time, and yes I know we are fighting a war and in the middle of an election that will change our country forever, HOWEVER  I truly and honestly believe that most of what is wrong with our country's negative "everything is bad, how can we get out of this, i dont have money, i need help" attitude is to have a positive news cast.  Obviously making everything out in a negative light isnt working so why not try something a little new and seemingly unheard of in the world of the media, let try and be positive, I know that peoples attitudes, spending and outlook on life would dramatically change!!!!!!!

So I have been thinking with this week being the anniversary of 9/11 and all about the media and how it has changed over the years.  When 9/11 happened the world changed in so many ways there is not enough time to type it!  America wanted to know what was going on in DC, NYC and PA at all times.  We wanted to know the truth, the facts and who to blame.  As a country we were mad and we were passionate and proud for our country.  We did not care what when or how we wanted justice for the lives lost.  The media was behind this passion and drive for justice in fact i would even say they were only fuelling the fire.  No one knew in 2001 what lay ahead, no one could foresee that 7 years later we would still be searching and fighting for justice from that horrific day.  Things have changed, they have gotten better, then worse, then better but the objective hasn't changed we want to end terror.  One thing that has changed though is this media's perspective now instead being proud of us fighting for justice and for our protection they are critiquing what is going on in Iraq and Afghanistan.  The media that was fuelling the fire to start a war and win against terrorism is now one of its biggest critics.  This should be a lesson to us all to not always trust the media, perhaps we should not have rushed into a war, we should have taken a deep breath counted to ten, looked at the facts and made more educated decisions!!!

Bortz, Hannity, Huckabee and Morris

WOW!!! Last night I had the opportunity to go hear Neal Bortz, Sean Hannity, Mike Huckabee, and Dick Morris speak.  It was Amazing! I learned more about the candidates last night then I have learned in the past few months.  They showed clips from Hillary and Bill Clinton, Obama, Biden, Palin, and McCain.  It was very interesting to hear the FACTS about each candidate other than that Obama is a rock star, McCain is old,  and Palin is an unfit mother.  If the facts were reported the election would be decided because the facts speak for themselves.  It is amazing to me the bias of the media, they are afraid to ask questions of Obama because I believe they are afraid of what they will find.  John McCain says that he learned to be proud of his country in solitary confinement in a POW camp.  I want to know when Obama learned to be proud of his country!  I want Obama to explain and get asked the questions about his relationship with William Ayers.  These among other questions need to be asked of Obama.  The media is very quick to judge and pick out faults of the Republican candidates but never seem to ask Obama and Biden the tough questions.  Something is going to have to happen to the media in this country, we as the American people have to hold the media accountable, it is our responsibility!!!!!

media coverage of palin

So I thought i heard it all when it came to criticizing Sarah Palin until I got in the car at lunch today, now they are talking about her hair style, I mean seriously? Are we electing a candidate because of their hair, and if we are then Obama and Biden are leaving something to be desired for the democratic ticket.  I do not mind them questioning her, its what the media does, but they should do it equally among all candidates and on topics that matter like energy independence for American, the war, foreign policy lets talk about these things not her hair seriously!!

Welcome to my blog!

So I'm pretty excited about doing this blog project over the semester, i had a xanga in high school, which was one of the first social media outlets I was exposed to as well as the perfect outlet for all of the silly high school drama I seemed to always find myself in!

I titled the blog, this should be interesting, only because the media coverage and information that will be "reported" or thrown around rather in this election should provide for plenty of interesting discussion and plenty of examples of a broken and fairly bias media!
